Top Eco-Friendly and Green Travel Tips
Ready to hit the road? Before jumping in your car solo, brainstorm other ways you can get from point A to point B while reducing your carbon footprint. Sustainable transportation can mean walking, running or biking to a destination; coordinating a carpool or rideshare; or driving an electric vehicle. And when you do drive your own car, vehicle maintenance plays an important role in reducing carbon emissions.
Even if you can’t make it happen all the time, opting for eco-friendly travel even once in a while is a (green) step in the right direction.

Eco tips on the move … welcome to our travel edition! Let’s start with the obvious one: the non-motorized travel (think: walking or biking) is the only way to get around with no carbon footprint. Of course, that isn’t always possible—I get that. Next step on the scale of earth-friendly is public transportation: buses and trains and even carpooling (in a hybrid or pure electric vehicle, of course).
But most of us still live in places where we need a car, and it may not always be convenient to share a ride. So a few easy things you can do to reduce the impact of driving are:
• Keeping your tires aired to the right pressure
• Getting regular inspections and oil changes
• Going easy on the accelerator and brakes
Oh, and one last thing: if you have to fly, try to book a non-stop flight, which is more convenient for you and creates less CO2 pollution.

How about purchasing an electric vehicle or plug in hybrid and switch to a company like Green Mountain with a 100 percent renewable portfolio. For airline travel purchase carbon offsets before you fly. Support renewable energy or tree planting or energy efficiency to offset the CO2 generated by your trip.
